The Plan:
Students were wonderful for the substitutes during my recent absence. Thank you for all your prayers and kind words. I hope to have E-school grades caught up by Friday.
Students will enjoy a short video, "Life in Ancient Rome" on Monday, organize their notebooks, and take 8.2 quiz. We will spend the remainder of the week discovering the events that led to the end of the Roman Republic.
Monday:
Students completed Section 8.2 Review questions #1-7.
Tuesday:
Students used two-column notes and a Find-Someone-Who strategy to collect information from the video "Life in Ancient Rome". They then used their notes to answer questions about Roman culture. We discussed a random notebook grade for Chapters 8.1 and 8.2 to be taken Thursday.
Wednesday:
Students reviewed the Roman Republic with Tim & Moby on BrainPop.com and practiced their geography skills. They used the map "Italy 500 B.C." on textbook page 263 to identify Rome, important mountain ranges, rivers, and people groups of the time period.
Thursday:
Students evaluated their returned quizzes and set new goals for next week. They also prepared 8.3, "The Fall of the Republic" PQR2ST+ notes to use during tomorrow's class. Thirty minutes was spent playing "Thinking Games" and grading notebooks. Thank you PTA for purchasing the reading comprehension and thinking skills boardgames for students. They are a great MAP preparation that feels more like fun! :)
Homeroom: We enjoyed a pizza and ice cream party during lunch. We won the treats for ordering the most pizza last Domino's Night and showing the most spirit on Spiritwear Fridays. Thank you for all your support!
