Thursday, April 11

The Plan:
Students will continue their investigation into The Fall of the Republic and learn all about Julius Caesar. Watch for a
quiz on Wednesday or Thursday, before we move onto the building of the Roman Empire. Our tentative Chapter 8
test date is Friday, April 19.

Monday:
I received a wonderful report from Dr. Mills, who substituted for our class on Friday.  As a result, students enjoyed thinking games and time to finish their PQR2ST+ notes for 8.3 "The Fall of the Republic".

Homeroom: Silver Dollar City ticket information went home today.  Watch for a green form to come home.

Tuesday:
The class reviewed things we know about Julius Caesar and watched "Rise of the Roman Empire" to help us sequence the major events of his rise to power.  Using SSn page 64, students also answered ten comprehension questions and cited the page numbers where they found the information.  Finally, each student chose to either diagram the effects of using prisoners of war as Roman slaves, or write an editorial position on Caesar as dictator.  These questions are from the textbook page 283, numbers 3 or 7 .  Five minutes will be provided in class tomorrow to put the finishing touches on the colorful artwork necessary for the notebook.  The quiz will be on Thursday.

Wednesday:
Students continued to review and practice describing the fall of the Roman Republic.

Thursday:
The Blue Team earned an 88% quiz average today!  Students set-up their PQR2ST+ notes for section 8.4, The Early Empire.  We viewed a video clip showing us the ancient ruins of Pompeii, an ancient Roman city, and began our notes on Roman emperors.

Enjoy your long weekend. :)
