Social Studies: This week week we are becoming familiar with school procedures and getting to know each other.

Monday: Summer
Tuesday: Summer
Wednesday: First day of school. We packed the day full of schedules, using our planner and Wilson's Creek handbook (located in the front of our planners) and practicing the emergency plans. We also looked at the Springfield District Handbook to define some important words like "bullying and harassment". I am very excited to see what a friendly and responsible team we have. The important forms were sent home and need to be signed and returned by Friday. We will also have a WC Handbook quiz on Friday.
Thursday: Wow, we had a great day! Students participated in four team building activities during the morning classes to experience cooperative problem-solving with a group. After brainstorming all the character traits and skills that were needed to be a successful team, students created posters showing how these same skills are necessary to be an effective student. These will be posted for you to enjoy during the upcoming Open House. Don't forget to return the beginning of the year forms if you did not have them today.
Friday: Students have the Social Studies syllabus to show you. We discussed how grades earned and created pie charts to show our understanding of the categories. Students also assessed how important reading and writing are to the Social Studies class using our course objectives.
