Week of September 30

The Plan:

Social Studies:

 
We will go to the library Monday and continue to use our study system as we finish reading Mesopotamian Civilization. Students will use evidence from photographs of ancient artifacts to answer the question, "Was Ancient Sumer Really a Civilization?"


Homeroom:  Send in your Flu Immunization Consent Form if you need a shot.
What Is Happening:

Monday:  Students  turned in their next seven Vocabulary Words (civilization - empire) for Section 1.2 Mesopotamian Civilization.  They used the remaining  thirty minutes of class to complete their PQR2ST+ notes from textbook reading pages 16-21.  This reading will take the students through three pages of their notes coordinating with the textbook. We will check the notes tomorrow in class.
 
Tuesday: Based on parent feedback I will try to use as few words as possible; limiting the information to bulleted notes regarding  our classroom activities and current assignments. Please let me know what you find helpful. Today in class:
  • PQR2ST+ notes from reading textbook page 23; main heading "Sargon and Hammurabi"
  • reviewed and corrected section notes through discussion and use of answer key
  • experienced the work of a scribe
  • Vocabulary Words (3) province-astronomer due Thursday, Oct. 3rd
  • Section 1.2 Quiz Monday, October 7th
Wednesday: 
  • Vocabulary Words (3) province-astronomer due Thursday, Oct. 3rd
  • Section 1.2 Quiz Monday, October 7th
  • Guided Reading 1.2 review questions completed in class
  • Student Choice project in thier Social Studies Notebook will be continued next week

  • Thursday:  "Was Sumer Really A Civilization?" in class activity began in today and will be finished in class tomorrow.
